CARLY HITCHENS
MINERALS
Necklace, nylon, hand-dyed
Inspired by Cornwall
Born in Penzance, I use my surroundings to inspire unique pieces of handmade jewellery. Cornwall has a rich heritage of mining, which informed this piece.
This necklace is inspired by the structural forms created from crystals and minerals ored here in Cornwall. The blue and green colours represent our beautiful coastline and countryside.
DANNY RIES
EMBROIDERY CUBES
Rings, black & white bioplastic
Inspired by Madeiran embroidery motifs
This piece is drawing from my Jewish heritage where our journeys, stories, festivals and traditions are remembered and retold to our children and are subsequently passed on from generation to generation. My embroidery collection started with the Madeiran embroidered table linen which I inherited from my grandmother (and mother). Their provenance and arrival in the UK from Belgium is a story in itself and they evoke many fond memories of family celebrations and meals. I fell in love with the fabric, the neutral tones and gloriously irregular motifs and wanted to recreate them in my jewellery designs.
With the use of CAD, I have been able to experiment across different jewellery types and materials.
LA PARRA JEWELS
A DIVE INTO THE MED
Bangle, sterling silver, enamel
Inspired by Antoni Gaudí
A celebration of my Mediterranean roots, blending the serene beauty of the sea with the whimsical artistry of Gaudí. With the vibrant blues and greens of the ocean, its organic shapes echo the natural forms that Gaudí famously adored, where every curve seems to flow like a gentle wave or twist like a sea breeze. Nature was his ultimate muse, and I’ve channelled that same spirit into this piece.
Look closely, and you’ll find tiny fish swimming through the bangle, a playful nod to the bustling life under the waves.
A little piece of the Med, ready to add some vibrant, sun-kissed charm to any day.
MICHELE WHITE
CEDAR TREE
Brooch/pendant, silver, 18ct gold, agate
Inspired by English countryside
This brooch/pendant is typical of the pieces I have been making for 40 years.
It combines my love and enthusiasm for trees, in this case a cedar, and gemstones, in this case a landscape agate.
In my head these little scenes are like looking out of a window into a wonderful landscape beyond.
LONDONNA MURANO
SILVER WAVE
Necklace, recycled leather & aluminum, Murano glass, steel, silver
Inspired by family culture
My grandparents’ resourcefulness and creativity deeply influenced me as I grew up. They fixed what was broken, repurposed what was worn, and approached their work with a genuine appreciation for craftsmanship and respect for everything they had. Though I didn’t realize it at the time, these experiences left a deep imprint on me and my creative journey.
I find joy in problem-solving, in discovering materials that others had discarded and giving them new life in my designs. I am deeply grateful and honoured to carry forward the values and skills that were passed down to me, and I express this heritage in every piece of jewellery I create.
CATHERINE MARCHE
LA MARCHE
Necklace, silver, velvet
Inspired by French heraldry
Every French region has an associated Blason, the same way some families have a crest.
Crests are usually worn on signet rings.
Giving it a fashionable twist allowing to wear your arms as a choker.
SARAH GOLDWATER
MAJESTIC FOX
Ring, silver, gold, diamonds, emeralds
Inspired by British wildlife
This gold, diamond and emerald ring features a detailed fox design, evocative of British wildlife.
Foxes have long been associated with English folklore and are often seen as a symbol of cunning, adaptability and intelligence. They are known to outsmart hunters and survive in the wild. This reputation has made them a popular symbol in literature, art and mythology. The intricate craftsmanship of the ring showcases the rich history and cultural significance of the fox in British heritage.
KATERINA DAMILOS
VORTEX
Necklace, silver, 18ct gold, garnet, topaz, citrine
Inspired by ancient Greek spinning tops
My country of origin, Greece, is renowned for its ancient monuments and works of art. On a recent visit to the Acropolis Museum in Athens, I was drawn to a collection of ancient ceramic spinning tops, found in one of the site excavations. What attracted me was the same simple shape, recreated with countless different decorative motifs.
It elevated something mundane, the everyday toy, into a work of art. My design is borrowing from the circular shape of the spinning top and the multitude of motifs to create a contemporary necklace that gives a nod to ancient Greek artefacts. The earthy tones of red, gold and blue are also a nod to colours found in jewellery and murals of ancient Greece.
LYNNE BARTLETT
DISAPPEARING ICON?
Necklace, titanium, silver
Inspired by Battersea Power Station
Battersea Power Station, a jewel on the bank of river Thames, has been celebrated in painting and photography.
I created this necklace in the 1980s, inspired by the stark silhouette of the original art deco design, amidst the uncertainty about the building’s redevelopment. The title of my piece reflects that moment in time.
SARA CHYAN
HYBRID REFLECTIONS
Cutlery, stainless steel, bismuth
Inspired by East meets West
Growing up in Hong Kong, an international city that bridges Eastern and Western cultures, I’ve always been surrounded by both chopsticks and Western cutlery like forks and knives. These tools have been part of my daily life since childhood, yet they carry deeper meanings for me. My work reflects this duality—where cultural symbols intertwine but also clash in unexpected ways.
In this series, I cover the functional ends of spoons, forks, and knives with vibrant bismuth blocks, rendering them unusable. This transformation is a reminder of how my Hong Kong upbringing shapes my identity: a blend of traditional and modern, East and West. The cutlery becomes symbolic, questioning the roles of tradition and function in a globalised world. The colourful bismuth evokes the dynamic, ever-changing landscape of Hong Kong, a place where identity is fluid and multifaceted, much like my own journey.
